Since 2014 I have been involved in the adult industry in one aspect or another. I’ve witnessed many changes over the years, some positive and some horrific, but none quite as devastating as the passage of FOSTA/SESTA in 2018. Not only have these laws contributed to the increasing loss of online autonomy and freedom of speech, but they have also led to the literal deaths of some of my close colleagues and less protection for victims of human trafficking.
Now with the inception of online age verification laws in many parts of the world, not only are those in My industry affected, but you are as well. By collecting your data and storing it in databases that are often hacked, we are all at risk for our personal information to be stolen and used for identity theft or worse.
As you can imagine, I’ve been an outspoken advocate for repealing these predatory and misguided laws since their inception. Not only do I want to be able to do my job more safely, but I also want all of us consenting adults to have freedom of expression online without worry of being censored.
